Experience

Throughout my life, I have always been drawn to working with children and their families. Be it teaching at a therapeutic preschool or serving at-risk families at Headstart, my career has continually centered around providing support and services to children and their families.

In graduate school, the focus of my training and education was in working therapeutically with young children using play therapy techniques.  In addition, I worked extensively with parents in the development of more effective coping and parenting strategies.  Currently, I am in the process of completing my Play Therapy Certificate at JFK University.

For the past eight years I have provided support and social services to at-risk children and their families as a Child Welfare Worker at Alameda County Child Protective Services.   As a Child Welfare Worker, I provide emotional support to children suffering from abuse, neglect, grief and loss as well as provide support and other services to parents who are struggling with issues such as poverty, substance abuse, domestic violence and mental health issues.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am continually working on enhancing my therapeutic skills by participating in seminars, workshop and classes on an ongoing basis.  In addition, I collaborate and consult with colleagues regularly and keep current with local programs and resources within the community.
