For over twenty years I have provided therapeutic services to adults, children and families in a number of different mental health settings. This rich and diverse experience allows me to easily meet you where you are and work collaboratively with you to help you meet your goals. As a child abuse investigator for Children's Protective Services I have worked with countless clients in crisis; who have experienced trauma, grief and loss. Utilizing an empathetic, authentic and solution focused approach, I have helped clients move from a place of chaos and crisis to one of safety and security, where they can begin the process of healing from their traumatic experiences.
How I Work
I believe that the therapeutic process is a partnership where you and I will work together to meet your goals. I have training and experience in a number of different therapy approaches and recognize that therapy is not "one size fits all." I believe in the importance of using our shared knowledge and experience in building an effective treatment plan. This is a collaborative process where you and I will both contribute the "tools" in our tool chest and together we will choose the best tool for the job. If our chosen tool does not appear to be working then we will choose another until the work is complete. I respect the fact that you are the expert on your life and will spend a lot of time getting to know you, focusing on your strengths. We will then build upon your strengths and past successes to attain your goals.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Humboldt State University in 1992. I went on to earn my Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Humboldt State University in 1996 and I obtained my Marriage and Family Therapy license in 2007. Additionally, I have earned certificates in Serving Our Veterans Behavioral Health Care from the Department of Deployment Psychology and am a certified Clinical Trauma Professional through the International Association of Trauma Professionals. I am Level II trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and have additional training in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Crisis and Trauma Counseling.
I am happy to discuss my training and experience with you. If you have questions about how I can help you with your unique needs please contact me via email or phone.
